Through an accident I fractured...

Through an accident I fractured my hip. My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, telephoned a practitioner who had helped me on many other occasions and asked her for help. Work in Christian Science was immediately taken up. As I was unable to get up even with help, a son called a doctor, and I was taken to the hospital. The usual medical examination, which included X ray, took place preparatory to the setting of the bone. However, the X-ray pictures showed that the setting had already taken place. Nothing but the power of God, made apparent through the consecrated work of the practitioner, had accomplished this healing. We read in Hebrews (4:12), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword."

The doctors and nurses thought it queer that I never had any pain or temperature. When it was found that my kidneys were not functioning properly, the doctor left some pills to be taken at intervals. As I had promised the practitioner that I would rely entirely on Christian Science for healing, I did not take them. When the doctor discovered this and learned my reason, he said I would have to take the consequences. Within twenty-four hours the healing took place. The doctor then said, "Well, your Christian Science worked." Because of my age, which is over seventy-five, the doctors said I would never walk again without a cane. I am active and do not use a cane. This healing took place in 1942. I have also been healed of arthritis. For the past six years my husband has been confined to a wheel chair, and I have been divinely strengthened to give him all the needed care.

I am grateful for the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, for all the blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science, and for membership in a branch church.—(Mrs.) VIRGINA B. GODFREY, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
