SAFEGUARD OUR SCHOOL CHILDREN'S RIGHTS

[From annual reports]

Florida

The Miami Herald carried an item stating that all school children in Dade County would co-operate in a diabetes program, submit to tests, et cetera. Upon checking with school authorities, we found that the tests were not obligatory, and we enlisted the aid of all our Sunday School superintendents in the country in immediately notifying the parents.

Following preparatory work, which included correspondence with the Manager of Committees on Publication, we obtained the school authorities' permission to issue cards respectfully requesting exemption for our children from X-rays tests, hygience courses, sex education courses, and any programs in which specific diseases and their symptoms are studied. The use of these cards will protect our children from much that is contrary to the teachings of Christian Science and will enlighten school personnel on our position.
