Great joy fills my heart for the privilege of expressing gratitude to God for His wonderful goodness to me. I should like to tell of a healing which came to me while attending a Christian Science lecture.

For many months I had suffered periodically from severe pain, and in the spring of 1946, while attending my duties as public school teacher, I became so ill one morning that I thought I must ask leave to go home, where I might have quiet in order to do metaphysical work for myself. But I worked on where I was as best I could. Upon my arrival home about five o'clock in the afternoon, the pain was so great that there was no relief except when I was in a reclining position.

I had been reading room "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy a little while when a member of my household came in and reminded me that there was a Christian Science lecture to be given in our city at eight o'clock that evening and said that I should make every effort to attend. I could not see how my attending a lecture was humanly possible, and the suggestion came that perhaps if I stayed at home this once and did special work for myself, it would be better for me. Then the thought came that as a Christian Scientist my duty was to support the Cause of Christian Science in every way, that I needed the spiritual enlightment I would gain by hearing this lecture, and also that no false claim of error in any form could keep me, as God's perfect idea, away from good. So I arose from my bed and dressed and attended the lecture with other members of my family.
