My living has been so greatly enriched since I began the study of Christian Science that I wish to express my sincere gratitude. I have had many blessings from the application of the statements of truth contained in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I had been studying Christian Science about a year when I burned my arm one evening on a hot stove. The pain soon stopped, but there remained a dark brown scar. I knew I had had a severe burn and was grateful for the quick release I had experienced from pain and paid no attention to the scar. Several months later a doctor friend told me that I would always have the scar, because the burn had been very deep. I realized that I could be free from such a condition, and I quietly and accurately stated the truth about man. I knew that man in God's image is not material, but spiritual and perfect, and he is therefore without blemish. I do not know exactly when this scar disappeared, but within a week after this work was done the mark was gone and has never reappeared.

Another healing for which I am unspeakably grateful took place more than fifteen years ago and has been permanent. For many years I was subject to fainting spells and periods of extreme weakness and nervousness. All these symptoms have disappeared through the application of Christian Science. A practitioner had been helping me to overcome the fainting spells, but this annoying condition continued. One day when I felt that I was going to faint, I immediately declared that God is Life and that Life is my life, perfect, unchangeable, and indestructible. The last tenet of The Mother Church, as given on page 497 of Science and Health, "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure," had been my prayer almost daily since first reading it. I realized that the Mind which was "also in Christ Jesus" was divine Mind, God, and that this Mind was my Mind and therefore I could never be unconscious. I soon became aware of the meaning of these statements. It was necessary for me to lie down for a few minutes, but I did not lose consciousness and have never had a recurrence of these spells.
