"NOW ARE WE THE SONS OF GOD"

In his first epistle the beloved disciple, John, makes plain that now, at this moment, we are the sons of God. He tells us in essence that our spiritual discernment is as yet too dull to comprehend this fully, but that as we attain sufficient spiritual growth we shall see Him as He really is. He also says that all who entertain this hope are purified and comforted by the promise that we shall be like Him.

Since the Bible declares that God is Spirit, and that He created man in His own image and likeness, obviously man must be spiritual. Now Christian Science does not rest its case on mere words without works, but goes on to demonstrate that since man is spiritual, he is not the victim of material so-called forces, luck, chance, astrological calculations, and the like, but is diseaseless, ageless, sinless, perfect, here and now, regardless of the seeming evidence of the material senses.

Of paramount importance in the practice of Christian Science is the understanding that man, as the son of God, the expression of Spirit, exists now and will forever continue to exist at the standpoint of perfection. The Holy Scriptures tell us that "whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it."
