I learned about Christian Science while I was attending high school. I had an opportunity to read to a young man, a professional pianist, who had suddenly been stricken blind. Someone had mentioned Christian Science to his family, inasmuch as they had tried everything else. They purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and together he and I studied. He regained his sight in about six weeks and returned to his profession.

During the time I was reading to him, I occasionally went to a near-by Christian Science church. My family were not interested, so I went alone. I did not make an effort to continue further at that time with Science, but later, after I had married and had been told by several specialists that nothing could be done for me except a serious operation, I remembered Christian Science. Many inspiring experiences flashed through my mind, and these encouraged me to call a practitioner.

I had been suffering from hemorrhages and chronic constipation. I was healed of these two disorders in one treatment. When I expressed my gratitude, the practitioner told me that one way to show my gratitude was by studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly every day and by making an effort to join a Church of Christ, Scientist. This I did over twenty-three years ago, and in that time I have had many healings. Ptomaine poisoning, hives, and laryngitis were healed quickly, but several other conditions took longer.
