HARMONIOUS RELATIONSHIPS
Our proportionate admission of the claims of good or of evil determines the harmony of our existence,—our health, our longevity, and our Christianity." So writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 167 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." In this brief sentence is indicated the healing method of Christian Science, the complete rejection of the belief of an evil cause and the acceptance of the truth that God is the only cause and that His creation is perfect. Thus Christian Scientists accept the fundamental fact as stated in Genesis (1:27, 31): "God created man in his own image. ... And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
The student of Christian Science learns that man in Science is perfect, expressing the qualities of his creator, God, in health, harmony, love, joyous activity, graciousness, and co-operation. In proportion as one affirms and realizes this basic fact will he be able to correct inharmonious conditions wherever they appear, whether in the home, the office, the shop, the schoolroom, in church work, his business, or in any other activity. The student learns that God, omnipresent Love, supplies him with all things needful for his well-being and happiness; that omnipotent Truth gives strength to do His work, and that omniscient Mind gives the wisdom and understanding necessary to carry on daily activities.
Those who devote their lives to the healing work in Christian Science find that many who come to them for help are suffering because of disturbed human relationships. Medical men, psychiatrists, and social workers now recognize that much of what is called physical disease is the result of discordant conditions in the home or of fear and worry over business problems. Here Christian Science offers a sure and safe solution. The remedy is to be found in gaining a clearer spiritual understanding of God as infinite Love, the only Mind, and of His loving and abundant provision for all of His children. One may well pray, as did the Psalmist (119:34), "Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart." In proportion as one lets go of worried human planning and brings to bear on the problem an understanding of divine Principle a right sense of harmony will be made manifest.
