I am thankful to a practitioner for giving my mother a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in 1907. My mother, however, did not feel that she was able to understand it and so placed it in the bottom of her trunk, where it was untouched until the year 1915, when she gave it to me to rebind, and I became interested. She then showed me how to read the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly with the Bible and Science and Health. For thirty-four years now I have been a devoted and faithful student of Christian Science as discovered by Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader. I have been healed of dyspepsia, varicose veins, bleeding and loss of blood, also severe malarial fever. I am most grateful of all for a complete change of disposition and a healing of bad temper which some in our family claimed was inherited.

Words fail to express my gratitude for the healing of our daughter's arm, which was broken at the wrist when she fell from her pony. I declared the truth immediately and also called a practitioner. However, since she was leaving town, she thought it best for me to call someone else. This caused delay and fear, as the child was only twelve years old and was unacquainted with other practitioners and felt she could not confide in anyone else. We also felt it would please her father, who was not a student of Christian Science, if it were cared for by a doctor. We were told that the arm would have to be rebroken to be properly set, as it was healing in a crooked position. This we were unwilling to have done, and my husband left everything to my decision. There was but one thing to do, rely wholly upon Christian Science. On returning home I quickly called a practitioner of whom I had heard, and the discomfort subsided upon her first visit. Our daughter co-operated lovingly in every way and read the Lesson diligently each day. She returned to school and wrote all her tests, having regained the use of her arm and fingers. Within five weeks the healing was complete, the arm being straight and the wrist supple.

I am also grateful to have had this wonderful truth in the rearing of all of our four children. They are today living proof of the efficacy of Christian Science, for it has brought them through many times when there seemed to be no hope. Often during cases of pneumonia, measles, and other ills I have been alone with the children, but we always relied upon God for our help, and we were never left wanting. The Bible, together with Science and Health, has been my only help. When I was unable to reach a practitioner, Psalms 46 and 91 and "the scientific statement of being," from page 468 of Science and Health, have comforted me and lifted me above what seemed to be despair.
