God's word reported in Isaiah...

God's word reported in Isaiah (45:5), "I girded thee, though thou hast not known me," is as true today as when it was recorded.

As a child I lived in Russia and attended a Hebrew school, where the Old Testament was taught. I could not understand a God of love and wrath, a God who would reward with one hand and punish with the other. It all seemed wrong, and the answers I received from my teachers were unsatisfying.

Instead of searching for a true concept of God, I took what I thought then to be the easiest way out by declaring, "There is no God." For forty years I was under this delusion, walking in a wilderness, believing matter to be power. What a mess I made of everything! However, truly "man's extremity is God's opportunity."
