For more than thirty-five years Christian Science has been my only aid in the solution of all problems that have arisen in my experience. I began reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, through curiosity. I was serving in my profession as a medical nurse in a home where there was a copy of this book. As all I had heard about it and its author was detrimental, I decided to read the book for myself. I could scarcely put it down until I had finished it, for I found it contained that for which I had been searching all of my life —how to utilize the teachings of the Bible in this age. Before I had read it half through I had purchased my own copy.

The reading of Science and Health healed me of all desire to commit suicide. Because life seemed so opposite to the Bible teachings and it seemed impossible to live generally in accordance with them, and because my work constantly took me into the presence of misery, pain, and death, life had appeared futile to me.

The reading resulted also in my giving up medical nursing immediately upon the completion of my work in the home where I found this blessed book. I went into the business world, for which I had been trained previous to my hospital training. That this was a right step for me was proved over and over again, for I was without employment for only a very short period, and each new position was a step higher than the last.
