Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

La Canada, California (First Church).

Dedication rites for the beautiful new First Church of Christ, Scientist, La Canada, were held at the regular morning service on Sunday, May 22, 1949. The new edifice is located at Foothill Boulevard and Woodleigh Street.

The church building is provided with Sunday School facilities, in addition to the usual offices required for this type of structure. Every modern idea that would advance the plan and design of a church building has been incorporated in this edifice.

The site is located in the wooded section of the foothills and has its quota of California oaks. The weathered tile roof of the building and its soft stucco walls fit gracefully into its surroundings.

*A correction was made in the December 10, 1949 Sentinel: "In the Sentinel of November 5, a newspaper item was republished which erroneously stated that First Church of Christ,Scientist, La Canada, California, had been dedicated. The newspaper meant to give publicity to the fact that the church was holding its opening service in its new edifice. Dedication of this church is still the objective of its members."
