"Verily, verily, I say unto you,...

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father" (John 14:12).

In May, 1927, I had an attack of malaria, to which I had been subject for eighteen years while living in Central America. I read the Lesson-Sermon for the week in the Christian Science Quarterly, but owing to a high fever I could not keep my thoughts on it. After hours of study I got an understanding of the Lesson and of a Bible reference in it which particularly appealed to me. The latter is given in John's account of Jesus' healing of the nobleman's son (4:52): "Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him. Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him." I concluded the Lesson-Sermon at one o'clock in the morning, then went to bed, and immediately fell asleep. When I awoke at six, I was drenched with perspiration, and the fever had left me. At the same time I was healed of partial deafness and constipation. I have not had any return of these diseases, and my days are filled with useful activities.

I am grateful for the many healings I have received and can sincerely say that the truth has made me free. I am grateful for Mrs. Eddy's wonderful spiritual interpretation of the Bible and for the Christian Science periodicals. "Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness" (Ps. 143:10).—John R. de Les Dernier, Daytona Beach, Florida.
