"Glory be to God, and peace to...
"Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts! Christ hath rolled away the stone from the door of human hope and faith, and through the revelation and demonstration of life in God, hath elevated them to possible at-one-ment with the spiritual idea of man and his divine Principle, Love" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 45). Thus writes Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science and the Founder of this mighty movement for the Christianization of mankind. It is with a heart filled with gratitude that I write that I am one of those who through the study and the application of this healing truth have found these words of Mrs. Eddy's to be joyously true in their human experience.
Not once but many times the stones of illness and spiritual confusion have been rolled away, and life has been found to be lovely, free, and filled with purposeful activity. A knowledge of God as the all-wise, all-loving Father-Mother has removed negative and depressing attitudes. Christ Jesus has become a sure and certain Way-shower as I have given time and effort to studying and endeavoring to emulate his example. Through my study of the Bible and Science and Health the stone of ignorance as to the nature of our wonderful universe and the way to live in it is being removed and spiritually satisfying views are coming to light.
Many healings come to mind as I write: a quick healing of scarlet fever when I was six years old, an instantaneous cure of poisoning, the overcoming of a critical sense of failure in my work and of seeming loss of human friendships. The most radical rightabout-face in my thinking, however, occurred as the direct result of a healing of deafness.
