My mother took up the study of...
My mother took up the study of Christian Science when I was a small child, and for nearly fifty years I have known no other means of help and no other religion. I have seen and experienced many healings. When I was a child, I was almost instantaneously healed of scarlet fever. When I was a little older, a cataract disappeared from my eye through the healing work done by my father. My own little girl was healed immediately of what would have been called diphtheria. After I had called a practitioner, the child went to sleep at once and was completely free in the morning.
Christian Science has been a wonderful help in solving problems of supply and in making right adjustments in employment, and it has been a source of protection from accidents. It has also been a help when it was necessary to have dentistry done. Recently I was freed from fear when I had to take a trip by airplane. The fear had amounted almost to panic, but with the persistent and faithful help of a practitioner, it faded out completely and I enjoyed every moment of the long trip, continually conscious of God's presence.
I am very grateful for these physical healings and for many others experienced in our family, but I am more grateful for the improvements that Christian Science has brought in character, in helping overcome criticism and timidity, and in greatly lessening fear.
