My mother accepted Christian Science when I was a small baby. I am told that I had a quick healing through Christian Science absent treatment, after medicine had ceased to have any effect and it was thought that I was dying. Since then in our family we have had many proofs that Christian Science not only heals physical discord, but corrects and deepens character and enlarges ability. For what I have seen, as well as for what I have experienced, my gratitude to God for Christian Science goes beyond words.

In college the doctor's diagnoses of a murmur of the heart and of badly infected tonsils were completely reversed within a few months. At one physical examination the doctor urged me to have my tonsils out quickly; at the next examination she could find no trace of the trouble. The disappearance of the heart murmur was attested to not only by the doctor in charge, but by others whom she called in to verify her tests.

Other physical healings were of difficulties which were never diagnosed. When living far from home, I had a struggle of several weeks with an illness which involved a recurrent fever. As the time drew near when I must be well enough to return to work, I managed to get out to the country. Finding myself free from fever soon after I arrived, I went for a walk on a mountain path and was caught unexpectedly in a heavy rainstorm. I was soon drenched and chilled, and it took me some time to find my way to shelter, but the awareness of God's care became so strong that I knew I could suffer no ill effects. When fever reappeared next day, I was no longer afraid of it. It disappeared almost at once and never returned. I felt strong and well, and was able to be active immediately.
