Although I have had published...
Although I have had published a testimony expressing gratitude for physical healing, I again want to express gratitude for an experience which I think might be helpful to others. I recently completed three years as First Reader in one of our branch churches. Before I accepted this appointment, many suggestions presented themselves: "You don't have time;" "You have insufficient education;" and, finally, my employer said I would have to seek other employment should I accept the office. I corrected these suggestions, knowing that God's work is complete and that with the office He would provide all things necessary for its proper fulfillment. I felt as Solomon did when he prayed for "an understanding heart" (I Kings 3:9). After I started my term as Reader, my employer withdrew his objection and let me continue in my position.
Shortly after I took office, the way to organize my own business was pointed out to me. Although there have been many trials, this venture has proved most successful. During the three years I served as Reader, I was more successful in business than at any time in my experience. I am grateful that during my term in office I never had to miss a service because of any business or physical problem. I am most grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has given us such statements as the one on page 199 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible," for the truth of this has been proved to me.
I am grateful for a healing experienced by our young daughter after she fell out of a tree and broke her arm. My wife and I were not at home at the time, and a relative had the bone set by a physician who had had little experience with broken bones and had expressed fear as to the way in which the bone would set. I too was concerned, until the realization came to me that "with God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26) and that man can express nothing less than perfection. Through Christian Science treatment the healing was complete.
