EXTRACTS FROM REPORTS

of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Vermont

During the session of the Vermont Legislature that is covered by this report, several bills were introduced which required exemptions for Christian Scientists. Of them, "An Act Defining and Regulating Hospitals, Sanatoriums, Rest Homes" alone passed, and in such a final form that we did not need exemption.

The co-operation manifested by legislators and health officials was most heartening. It was apparent that they realized we were not opposing any system of medicine or health regimen and that we did not desire to impose our way of thought or heading upon anybody, but were simply asking that we be permitted to enjoy the freedom granted us as American citizens under the United States Constitution and as freemen under the Constitution of Vermont.
