HELPING OTHERS AND OURSELVES

At the Wednesday meetings of Churches of Christ, Scientist, and the meetings held by Christian Science Societies and by Christian Science organizations in universities and colleges, testimonies of healing through the spiritual enlightenment afforded by a study of this Science are offered. Also in each issue of The Christian Science Journal, the Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science pages are devoted to expressions of gratitude for authenticated healings of physical and moral difficulties through the application of this Science.

During a Wednesday meeting at a Christian Science branch church, a young man who had never spoken before a large gathering arose to give verbal testimony to the healing power of prayer and spiritual understanding. He told how he had conquered a sense of fear in his first job as a salesman. So poignant was his fear of calling on and talking with business executives that he saw that in order to keep his job he would have to seek help outside of himself.

He decided, therefore, to consult an experienced Christian Scientist, whose first question was, "Do you believe that what you have to sell will benefit its buyers?" The salesman assured him that he believed in the product he represented, that he would buy it himself if he had a business of his own. The Scientist then pointed out that no one should be frightened when his desire was to help others.
