THE NEW BIRTH

As thought begins to soar above the earth,
And mortal weights release their fearful clutch,
There dawns a deepening hope, a heartfelt touch
Of Life and Love which signals the new birth.
The aches of yesterday and dreary dearth
That follows human pride and plans as such
Are swallowed up. And in their stead, how much
Is found of real and everlasting worth!
This birth unfolds a fuller, brighter view,
The sight of God and man, Father and son,
Without a cloud to mar the perfect bond.
This consciousness of beauty always new
And work complete, with everything well done,
Sings out with joy. Both heart and head respond.
