IT PAYS TO SEARCH

The writer recalls that, before she knew of Christian Science, mathematics was a difficult subject for her to learn. Even with the aid of tutors she could not seem to grasp the reasoning necessary to prove the rules. When Christian Science came into her life, the same lack of reasoning ability manifested itself. However, she made a definite rule to arise early every morning for study, using the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy to prove her God-given ability to understand. She soon found that logical, clear thinking was not difficult after all, since the thought allied to God recognizes God as the only Mind, the only power, which error cannot resist.

Men of yesterday sought gold at great personal sacrifice. Today men are seeking peace, and the price is almost beyond human comprehension. If the same tireless energy, the same willingness to sacrifice exerted in the search for gold, were expended in the search for divine laws with which to govern our lives, we should find these laws or rules and prove the joyous freedom which is our rightful inheritance, given to all by one universal Parent, the Father-Mother God.

Let us open our beloved Bible to John 5:39, where we read, "Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." Then let us turn to Christ Jesus' statement in Luke 11:9: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Could we have more definite instructions? Could they be more plainly written? As we ask, seek, and knock, the way will be opened unto us wherein we shall find the wonderful truth which meets every human need.
