PERFECT TIMING

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we read (p. 424): "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."

In this day of accelerated travel, when the press and radio generally record numerous disasters, an understanding of the foregoing statement brings immense relief and joy, peace and confidence. We can go about our daily tasks, whether at home or abroad, with assurance, poise, and tranquillity when we know that God, the preserver of man, is ever with His children, governing, guiding, and guarding. In reality there are no laws governing man but those of infinite Love, and we ran say with Moses (Deut. 33:27), "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms"—at all times, in all places, and under all circumstances. When burdened with a sense of danger menacing family or friends, the realization that God's power and protection are ever present stills mortal fear and reassures the troubled heart.

While two loved ones were making an extended trip by automobile, the writer experienced a sense of uneasiness regarding their safety. It finally seemed urgent to stop all other activity and give undivided attention to the matter. Prayerfully she turned to divine Mind for guidance, opening her thought to spiritual truths that would quiet her fear and bring the realization of protection. The clear and revealing thoughts that came to her filled her consciousness with joy and gratitude.
