Christian Science came to me...

Christian Science came to me twenty-five years ago. I had previously had to leave business owing to ill-health, and while resting I was taken to the Sunday service of a Christian Science church. At that service I realized that this religion was what I needed. On Monday morning I asked to borrow the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I read the opening words of the Preface (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," I knew without a doubt that this Science was true and would help me. I threw away the medicine that I was taking and relied on God; and I was healed. Through the application of the truth, there have been other physical healings, for which I am grateful, among which are those of colds, coughs, indigestion, headaches, constipation, sciatica, and hemorrhoids.

Early in my study of Christian Science this saying of Jesus took on a deeper meaning (Matt. 6:33): "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I had been used to asking for the added things first.

I am grateful for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy, who humbly listened for the revelation of Truth and lovingly gave it to the world. I am very thankful for Mrs. Eddy's writings, our periodicals, and the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly. I also wish to express my gratitude for our church organization, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of class instruction.
