Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

BeIIingham, Washington (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bellingham, held dedication services in the church edifice on Sunday morning, January 5, 1947.

Christian Science was first brought to Bellingham in 1893, when a few students held services in a private home in the little town then known as New Whatcom. Attendance steadily grew until, in 1896, a small building was rented, and the group formally organized as a Christian Science Society, a recognized branch of The Mother Church in Boston. In 1899 the society became First Church of Christ, Scientist, New Whatcom. The Sunday School was also organized and a Reading Room opened.
