INVITATION TO LOVE

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Quite a number of years ago, when Betty and Mary were about twelve years old, they lived near each other in the suburbs of a great city. Almost every day the two girls went to school together and played together. But on Sunday mornings Betty attended the Christian Science Sunday School, and Mary, who had not enrolled in any Sunday School since coming to live in the neighborhood, stayed at home.

It was a long way to Betty's Sunday School, but she did not mind the trip into the city on a trolley car because she loved her teacher and the boys and girls in the class. She also liked to join in the discussion of Bible stories with their spiritual meaning in the light of Christian Science. However, it made her very sad to leave Mary behind, and that is why she said to her one Sunday morning, "Come with me to the Christian Science Sunday School!"

Mary too loved the Bible, for she had studied it in an orthodox Sunday School, and she wanted to learn as much about it as Betty knew. So she ran home that morning to ask permission to go to Sunday School with Betty. "Why, of course, you may go," her mother replied to her earnest request.
