In humble gratitude to God I...

In humble gratitude to God I wish to tell of a healing received some time ago through Christian Science, for I walk today because of this truth.

I was in an elevator when the cable broke and the safety devices refused to work. The elevator fell from the eighth floor to the basement.

Just the day before, a friend who had been in Christian Science for many years mentioned the need of prayerful work each morning for protection and guidance. That morning, as I was doing this work, I felt a keen sense of Truth, as if I were ascending to a higher, clearer realization of what man is. Later, as I left home for business, the ninety-first Psalm came to thought, particularly the twelfth verse, where, speaking of God's angels, the Psalmist declared, "They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." That afternoon, as I realized that the elevator was falling, I recalled this verse and tried to say, "God is my strength," but could only cry out, "God is," before losing consciousness.
