The understanding of God's allness...

The understanding of God's allness has been given to us through the revelation of Christian Science. This Science is the only religion I have ever known. I learned many things about God during my childhood, and my faith in His willingness and ability to heal was unshakable, stemming from many proofs of healing. I was a very active child, and most of these healings were of the effects of accidents—broken bones, dog bites, scalds, and burns.

On one occasion when I was about seven a group of youngsters were invited to go for a short ride in a car. I was the last one in, and the driver started too soon. The back tire passed over my foot. I managed to get in the car and sat there desperately trying to keep from crying, remembering only that God did not make things hurt. The driver was concerned, but I assured him that I was all right and got out of the car when we arrived at our destination to prove it. By the time we had returned home the pain was all gone, and I had forgotten the accident by dinnertime. The driver spoke to my father about it the next day, but upon examination it was found that my foot was perfectly normal, without even a faint bruise.

At another time, when I was twelve, I jumped and landed on a board with a rusty nail in it. It took the combined efforts of several playmates to pull the nail out of my foot. My mother had gone shopping, so the whole group helped me into the house, where I called a practitioner. Before I had finished talking to him the tears had stopped. I replaced the receiver, turned and smiled at the group around me. We filed quietly out of the house, and soon we were laughing and playing again. The incident was forgotten until I was ready for my bath. The healing was nearly complete by that time, and there was no further trouble.
