HOMEWORK

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Ann was in the second grade and had homework like the big girls. She was full of fun and loved to play outdoors with her friends or in the cellar with her carpenter's tools. But whenever five o'clock came Ann was willing to stop playing at once and sit down to her homework. Because she was faithful and careful in her homework she got good marks and enjoyed school very much.

On Sundays, Ann went to a Christian Science Sunday School. And right away she had homework to do for Sunday School too. She began to learn the Lord's Prayer, the Beatitudes, and the Commandments. And as she learned them, she found that her homework included putting them into practice.

Her Sunday School teacher would write out Ann's assignment on a slip of paper and tuck it into her very own copy of the Bible or of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Then the first thing Monday morning Mommy would get out the piece of paper, and she and Ann would talk about the verse and how they could practice it.
