THAT BETTER PART

I Thought of how the Master preached the truth.
Of how he healed the sick and raised the dead.
And of the multitude within the desert
He sent not out, but brake and gave them bread.

How great his love. I thought. How poor is mine!
I felt like weeping for my barren soul:
Then I recalled that all of Love is here
Which he expressed, to heal and make men whole.

I prayed then humbly, "Father-Mother, God,
Let Thy love be the pulsing of my heart:
Let self be still and consciousness he tuned
To hear the chords that swell that better part."

That better part is purpose to set free
By Love's own power all humanity.
