I have had many proofs of the healing and protecting power of Christian Science, and should like to express my gratitude for them.

We were all lovingly protected, and our baby daughter was born almost painlessly during a heavy air raid over London. The house received a direct hit by a bomb which came through to the top landing. We were requested by the wardens to leave the house within seven minutes and told not to touch the bomb. A Christian Science practitioner was present and a Christian Science nurse in attendance. The bomb was safely removed—we were unaware how or when—and we had soon completely forgotten about it.

Two nights later another heavy raid took place, and the nurse said that perhaps it would be advisable for me to leave London the following morning to stay with relatives in Wales. This was arranged quickly and harmoniously, the American and the British Red Cross cooperating, and even passengers on the train meeting our last-minute needs. The fear expressed concerning the baby, who was only two days old, was very soon overcome; when she was three weeks old she traveled almost to the borders of Scotland, where I joined my husband. I shall always remember the patience, kindness, and untiring devotion of the practitioner, and the courage and ability of the nurse.
