It is a great privilege to express...

It is a great privilege to express my gratitude for the blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in Science and Health (Pref. p viii), "The question, What is Truth, is answered by demonstration,—by healing both disease and sin; and this demonstration shows that Christian healing confers the most health and makes the best men."

I am grateful for a healing which came to me while I was serving as an usher in a branch church. One Sunday morning when I awakened I was unable to stand on one of my feet. A practitioner was called, and as I worked in Christian Science I opened our Hymnal to No. 109 and read the first line, "Here, O God, Thy healing presence." These words made me realize that Truth is here now, that I could know it and be free. I was able to be at my post, and when the church service was over I was completely healed. The trouble was inflammatory rheumatism, which had at one time kept me in bed for two months. Our Leader says in Science and Health (p. 231). "If God heals not the sick, they are not healed, for no lesser power equals the infinite All-power; but God, Truth, Life, Love, does heal the sick through the prayer of the righteous."

The healing of an infected hand was accomplished by my own work. My hand became swollen and, as my work is with machinery requiring the use of oil and grease, I worked to know that in reality there could be no infection but only perfection in man, who is spiritual. I was grateful that the trouble was unnoticed by those around me, and that I was free from fear. For the demonstration that resulted I am truly grateful.
