"As a little child"

A Little boy of seven, who had been very ill and had been healed through Christian Science treatment, said his prayers one evening while his mother listened. When he finished his usual prayers he added, "Now, God, I want to thank You for making me well; I appreciate it." He not only asked divine Love to heal him, but acknowledged the healing and gave gratitude for it.

"Christian Science is simple, and readily understood by the children; only the thought educated away from it finds it abstract or difficult to perceive," its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 53), declares. In this same paragraph the author says that although Jesus' teachings were simple it was hard to make the rulers understand them, because of their lack of spirituality.

How should we approach Christian Science in order to understand it and be healed? Just as a child, with simple and confident trust, remembering Jesus' words (Mark 10:15), "Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein." One who has wound himself deep into the maze of intellectuality, who has striven for more and more material knowledge, thereby shutting out spiritual light, may find it difficult to have childlike trust. But if his motive is sincere, he will be shown the way.
