I wish to add my testimony to...
I wish to add my testimony to the many I have read, especially when I was supposedly in "the valley of the shadow of death." I had read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy for years. My mother had given me the book, but neither of us knew how to study it. We did not realize that we were having many healings through the reading of the book; therefore we did not give Christian Science credit for them at the time.
My mother passed on in April, 1932, from cancer. Her passing left me with a great fear of the disease I thought I had entirely overcome that fear through the study of Science, as I had learned how to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. After our last child was born, a doctor told me that if I did not have medical attention, including an operation, when I got older I would have cancer. In May or June, 1940, a condition developed that I could not keep from the family. They rushed me to their local physician, and he sent me to two cancer specialists. They told my daughter that I was long past the curing stage. My family asked me if I would go to the state cancer hospital, and I said "No"; so they told me I could have Christian Science treatment. I did not have a penny of my own, so I relied wholly on Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." About the first of February, 1941, I found one so loving and devoted to the Cause that she took my case without even a promise to pay and began treatment at once. I applied for membership in The Mother Church in April of that year and was accepted. While reading a Christian Science lecture one Sunday in June of the same year, I was instantly healed and have enjoyed excellent health ever since.
When my husband passed on in 1942, I was wonderfully sustained. I felt no sense of parting" or loss. Several months before he passed on I was forced by circumstances to get work to help make our living. I found employment to meet my every need and have continued to find employment since. I had never done a day's work outside my home in my life, and I feel that this was one of the greatest blessings, to find work I could do without any special training. There is no parting in God's kingdom, and we are all embraced in His divine love.
