The Sixth Beatitude
The
pure in heart behold reality;
Baptized in Spirit, they are cleansed from sin.
No more its squalors may defile their view,
Or force an entrance to their peace within.
The pure in heart reject the mortal dream;
Love's universe alone for them is real.
How could they traffic in the booths of sense
Who with the Father's business only deal?
The pure in heart diffuse the air of God;
Because its liberty and light they trace,
Many a fettered sinner breaks his bonds
To feel its holy sweetness on his face.
