Christian Science has brought me so much happiness I should like to express my deep gratitude for having been led to study it.

One healing I had over a year ago will always stand out to me as a very helpful experience. One Wednesday evening, before attending the testimony meeting, I had to go to see a friend. As I was leaving the friend's house I slipped on the pavement and fell, twisting my ankle under me. I tried to get up, but the pain was so intense that it seemed impossible to rise. There was no one on the road at the moment, so I was able to remain quietly where I was. I tried to realize that accidents are not known to divine Mind, as Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 424). After a minute or two I was able to get up and hobble to my bicycle at the curb, but I could not ride it, so I just sat on the seat and began to think the situation out.

I saw that if accidents are not known to Mind they must also be unknown to His idea. I must therefore have seemed to separate myself from God by some erroneous belief. I immediately stopped thinking about my ankle and started to search my thoughts to see where the error had crept in. Suddenly it came to me that while I was with my friend, we had discussed another person and some remarks had been passed which were not very loving. I at once began to reverse the criticism I had made, and to see the person in question as the complete and lovable idea of God. I was soon able to separate from this person entirely the fault that had seemed to me so evident a half-hour before, and I was so happy about it that I quite forgot my ankle and started off on my bicycle. Only after I had started did I remember that I had been unable to put my weight on my foot. I reached the church and was able to walk fairly well, so that no one noticed that anything was the matter. On my way home after the service I had to go up a steep hill, which I did quite well, pushing my bicycle.
