Man's Uninterrupted Vision
In Isaiah we read (9:2), "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." This prophetic utterance was spoken of the advent of the Christ, Truth, exemplified by Christ Jesus, who proved by his mighty works the omnipotence and omniaction of God.
In our day the works of the Master are being repeated, thanks to the spiritual insight of Mary Baker Eddy, who, because of her love for God and man, was prepared to receive this great light or vision infinite and make it available to all mankind. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she writes (p. 546): "Christian Science is dawning upon a material age. The great spiritual facts of being, like rays of light, shine in the darkness, though the darkness, comprehending them not, may deny their reality." Countless demonstrations of health restored, sin destroyed, and sorrow healed are evidence that cannot be disproved, although, as the author remarks, the darkness of the carnal mind may not comprehend or acknowledge the truth of these facts.
Understanding of the truth of being comes to each one through fervent prayer. The Psalmist recognized this when he prayed, "O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles" (Ps. 43:3). Through the light of spiritual discernment it is seen that all evil is only supposition, a cloud or mist which falsely claims to hide creation as God made it, good. This perfect vision is entirely impartial; it sees everything in its true light, radiant and lucid, as emanating from perfect Mind. Once the revelation of this truth dawns in the consciousness of men, in even the faintest degree, the fullness of its effulgence is assured —the risen day is inevitable, no matter how long deferred it may seem to finite sense, in the Glossary of Science and Health (p. 584) "day" is defined in part thus: "The irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea of Truth and Love."
