"The spiritual power of a scientific, right thought"
"To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace," said Paul (Rom. 8:6). Through the revelation of Christian Science we learn that evil or material thinking produces all mortal discord, and that spiritual understanding maintains or restores harmony. Regardless of the name or nature of the specific discord to be overcome, one's mental state must be taken into consideration and corrected if healing is to be made manifest. Christian Science healing is the natural result of scientific, right thought, or reliance on spiritual law.
But someone may question: "Just what constitutes scientific, right thought? Whence comes its power for good?" Christian Science reveals God's allness as infinite Mind, or Spirit, and man's spiritual, perfect, and immortal status as the son of God. Consequently, evil's only claim to existence is in fictitious mortal mind. Its every phase, including sin, disease, and death, is unknown to God good. Evil is neither intelligent nor real: hence evil thinking is ignorant and unreal.
That Christ Jesus knew God, good, to be the source of all intelligence is evident in his humble statement (John 5:19). "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." Jesus made it plain that his power over evil was not of human origin, but divine, or God-reflected. Since every right thought, every spiritual desire and pure motive which we entertain, comes to us from God by reflection, it is endowed with spiritual power.
