In praise and gratitude to God for the revelation of Christian Science in this present age I send this testimony, hoping that it may bring comfort to others.

When Christian Science found me I was an unhappy, disappointed, sick woman. I had a serious illness, at the crisis of which I felt that I was passing on. In my youth I had attended a Christian Science Sunday School, but later doubt crept in, and I became blind and willful, resolutely turning my face from the teaching I had received. I was quite positive that I had left it forever.

However, "the light shineth in darkness" (John 1:5), and so my experience proved. One day, in my extremity, the twenty-third Psalm filtered back into my darkened consciousness; then, piece by piece and blessedly, came "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. When the doctor paid his last visit at eleven o'clock that night I was able to convince him that I did not intend to die. I grew better, and when I was well enough to be about again was told I should have to undergo a major operation for the removal of a tubercular organ. The coming of "the scientific statement of being" had so changed my thought that I did not dream of submitting to the operation. I told the doctor that I was going to seek spiritual means of healing. He gave me his blessing, for he was a noble man who truly loved mankind better than self-interest.
