Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Tennessee

In the early days of the Christian Science movement Mrs. Eddy was her own Committee on Publication. At that time, and for a number of years thereafter, the work of the Committee was confined principally to replying to criticisms and erroneous statements concerning our Leader's teachings. Gradually as the movement gained momentum the volume of work increased and many new activities developed. Thus, the activities of the Committee have broadened, always in consonance with the Manual (Art. XXXIII), until now they constitute one of the most important bulwarks of our Leader's inspired demonstration.

Only three newspaper articles printed during the fiscal year called for correction, and two corrections were published. The correction which was not published was refused for the unusual reason that "it contained a Bible quotation"!
