Demand and Supply Coincident
God , divine intelligence, does not cause the unbalance between demand and supply which so often appears in human life with resulting discord. This unintelligent condition is the outcome of ignorant, unbalanced thinking—is an objectification of the human mind, the fictitious opposite of divine Mind, God.
If one accepts the axiomatic premise that basic cause is absolute intelligence, Mind, the conclusion follows that everywhere and at all times, in the universe and man this intelligent cause evolves, there is a perfect balance, or equipoise, between demand and supply. The observing prophet glimpsed this verity when he asked (Isa. 40:12), "Who hath ... weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?" And Elihu questioned (Job 37:16), "Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the works of him which is perfect in knowledge?" All the works of the Mind "which is perfect in knowledge" are eternally expressing wisdom-balanced being.
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy observes (p. 124): "Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind. They belong to divine Principle, and support the equipoise of that thought-force, which launched the earth in its orbit and said to the proud wave, 'Thus far and no farther.'" The balancing of the mountains, the hills, the clouds, and the ordering of the stars and planets all tell us something of the equilibrium of Mind. Should you or I, or the world in general, be confronted with a sense of things very much out of balance, that sense can be displaced individually and collectively by drawing nearer to God, by understanding and realizing Mind's all-inclusiveness and its constancy of control over and provision for each of its ideas. And how great is the world's need to know this!
