Over five years ago I was led to Christian Science, and with deep gratitude I wish to testify that from that very moment everything in my life and in that of my family improved. I had gone through years of trouble and sickness, of physical and mental suffering. Medicine and operations had failed to bring relief, and I knew there was the conjecture I might have cancer.

Living in a foreign country and without financial reserves, we had to work hard to earn a living for the family, and every day I felt less capable of fulfilling my duties. At that point, a woman asked me to seek help in Christian Science and, eager to assist me, she made an appointment for me with a practitioner. The hour I spent with the practitioner in quiet and loving conversation impressed me deeply. Leaving, I promised no longer to be fearful or to believe in the reality of sickness and the need for diet and medicine.

Far from understanding the counsel so lovingly given, but with a feeling of sincere gratitude for it, I went home quieted and comforted as I had not been for years. My husband and the children were astonished when I took dinner with them, desisting from diet and medicine. It seemed to me a miracle, but I suffered no more pain then or at any other time. No one who has not passed through a similar experience can understand what that meant to me and mine, after years of constant suffering. The relief I felt gave me great confidence in following the advice of the practitioner. All medical prescriptions and drugs were put aside.
