Energy

In the second verse of the first chapter of Genesis we read, "And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." This is one of the first records of the manifestation of true energy. The first command of this divine power was (Gen. 1:3), "Let there be light: and there was light." In this light we find the creation of God appearing as good, and very good, harmonious and complete.

From this beginning one can follow throughout the Old Testament the account of the power of the Spirit of the Lord as it was demonstrated by patriarchs and prophets, kings and shepherds. By this energy of Spirit the ferocity of beasts was overcome, the heat of flames was quenched, and many other so-called miracles were performed.

Isaiah, prophesying of the coming of the Messiah, said (Isa. 11:2), "And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him." And, having come, the Messiah, Christ Jesus, said (John 6:63), "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing;" and he demonstrated the energy of Spirit by annulling every false law of matter, every limitation, every illusion of evil.
