Certain statements that a doctor made in the Social Security Committee, relative to Christian Science, constitute in themselves a serious distortion of the facts, but they were further warped by the manner in which they were reported in your publication.

Gratitude is one of the most potent factors in the world. Gratitude for and determination to preserve our way of life and our standard of living are the compelling incentives behind the Allies' war effort in their fight against slavery and oppression. It is equally potent in the fight of an individual against the attacks of sickness or disease—yes, even cancer—and especially is it a powerful therapeutic agent when based on a spiritual understanding of God.
