Although I have had many...
Although I have had many healings in Christian Science, I write this testimony on supply in the hope that it may reach someone faced with a problem similar to the one I had. I had been in business for some years, and was employed by a large firm. Being obliged to leave on account of my age, I tried to get other employment, but found that experience did not seem to count, nor was it essential, and that someone younger was wanted. This went on for some months. I was faced with the constant worry of trying to get into a billet, and my funds began to get very low.
I had been rather interested in Christian Science, having had a healing of headaches through just reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, but I did not dream for one moment that it could heal me of anything other than sickness. One day I talked over this problem of age with a Christian Science practitioner, and I bravely asked her if she would help me. The answer was immediate. I should love to help you." She asked me to read passages from the Bible and Science and Health. I must say here I had not the faintest idea what Christian Science treatment was, but I was obedient.
Instead of my position improving. I got down almost to my last sixpence. I had been frequently told that substance is God, but I could not see that. One day I was asked to study "The Fruit of Spirit," an allegory beginning on page 323 of "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs. Eddy. I read this over several times and tried to ponder it but it was Greek to me. That evening I was at the end of my tether, and felt very depressed. I thought, "What has this got to do with my problem?" As I sat in front of the fire, I noticed that my handbag was very shabby. I remembered I had a new one, which I had not used because it was too small to take the contents of the old one. I got it out and as I turned everything out of the shabby bag, throwing old letters and other sundries into the fire, I came to a card bearing a message to the effect that God is the only employer. Then the thought dawned upon me that God, and no one else, had employed me all the time. One by one, the lessons which had been given to me became clear, and the meaning of the allegory was revealed to me that night. It was the most wonderful experience that I had ever had.
