Christian Science has been my...
Christian Science has been my joy and comfort for some years. It has healed me of grief and enabled me to be of help to others. That I am here today and active I owe to this Science. My husband, who was a physician, fully acknowledged its efficacy and permitted no one to criticize Christian Science.
One winter's morning I started forth on icy roads to keep an appointment and do an errand in a near-by town. On the way an accident occurred, and I was taken to the town where I was going by an automobile salesman, whom I knew. He told me I had been in an accident, and had been hurt. A doctor had said I should be taken to a hospital. I asked him just to take me home, saying I would call a Christian Science practitioner. I tried to think of one near by, but without success. However, I knew that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).
When we reached my house I found loving friends ready to be of service. The man who brought me home telephoned to a mutual friend, who is a Scientist. At the friend's home were a practitioner and his wife. The practitioner came to my home, and half an hour after his arrival I arose and had lunch. Not once did I feel an ache or a pain, although before Christian Science treatment was given I had had a chill. The next day I attended our Red Cross group and that Wednesday evening conducted the church service.
