"Power belongeth unto God"
In the Psalms we read, "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God." This does not mean some, but all power. Since God is good, the only power there is must be good. How wonderful it is to comprehend, even in a measure, this great truth. To understand it, overthrows fear and enables us to lean unreservedly on God to supply our needs.
All the strife, suffering, and lack challenging mankind today has its incipiency in the belief in a power apart from the Almighty. The question may arise, How can the truth that all power belongs to Him be utilized by the individual to meet his needs? The answer is, By understanding God and man's relation to Him, and submitting to His law and guidance. On page 203 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says, "If God were understood instead of being merely believed, this understanding would establish health."
There is no problem that cannot be solved when the consciousness of the allness of God has replaced a belief in more than one power. Most individuals are endeavoring daily to gain greater good in some direction. Christian Science is teaching the world that good must be sought through spiritual means. Since creation, including man, is perfect, one's effort to progress spiritually becomes more fruitful when the endeavor is made not merely to destroy a materiel condition, but to understand spiritual creation.
