At one time, when a Christian Science lecture was given locally, I had been ill for two weeks with an infected kidney, which had caused continuous suffering. With great effort I managed to pull myself together, and finally arrived at the lecture. Every moment it seemed impossible for me to remain.

The substance of the lecture was a follows: If we accept man as mortal, suffering is the outcome; but if we accept and declare man to be immortal and spiritual, we lift our thought into divine Mind, where health reigns. As I listened to this spiritual, concise reasoning, a high temperature immediately disappeared, and the rest of the excellent message was highly enjoyed; for when my thought was freed, my body was healed.

Our precious Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes in Science and Health (p. 261), "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts." As we hold our thought steadfast in Truth, illness disappears.
