Church Dedications

New Albany, Indiana (First Church).—The dedication services of First Church of Christ, Scientist, New Albany, were held on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1942. A brief history was read, part of which is given below:

"On Thanksgiving Day, 1902, a small group of students met in a private home to conduct the first Christian Science service held in New Albany. Thereafter, regular church services were held until 1903, when Music Hall, at Ninth and Main Streets, was rented.

"Sometime during 1904, a store room at Bank and Main Streets was rented, and in this building regular church services were held, and a Christian Science Reading Room was opened. By the spring of 1907 the organization obtained an official charter under the name of First Church of Christ, Scientist, New Albany. The same year a building directly across the street became the church home. Services were continued there for a period of years, and at an opportune time the building was sold.
