About a year ago I had an experience which taught me so much that I am sure it will help others. It is my desire to give this testimony through authorized channels provided for the purpose. Thus it is certain to heal.

The first thing I learned was that we must do our daily protective work. It is not selfish to work for ourselves. Only as we realize our oneness with God are we able to help others.

At a time when I was doing much mental and physical work for my two small children, one of the vertebrae of my back became misplaced in such a way that I was unable to move my body even an inch. Loving friends and relatives took care of the children, and a Christian Science nurse was called in so that I was free to find and realize my spiritual oneness with God. A practitioner was called. She gave consistent and loving guidance. The Lesson-Sermon was read to me. Gradually definite thoughts and quotations came to my consciousness. The first one that really clicked was a statement from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 228): "The enslavement of man is not legitimate." I repeated this out loud, adding, under Love's guidance, the statement from page 227, "God made man free."
