Making Right Decisions

[Of Special Interest to Youth]

Never before were so many young people called upon to make quick decisions. And is there anything that requires more prayerful consideration than the making of a decision? Daily we face the choice between two ways. If we choose the one, we go in that direction; if we choose the other, we go another way. "Your decisions will master you, whichever direction they take." says Mary Baker Eddy on page 392 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

Whether young people are studying at school or busy in the home, suggestions to do this, to go there, knock persistently at the door of their consciousness. If heeded, they would turn thought away from the work in hand. Attractively attired in a cloak of varied colors, in the name of self-expression or self-development, these suggestions would deceive us into believing that if we do not heed them we are unprogressive, that we are falling back to the end of the line. But the sincere follower of our Leader's teachings will find it impossible not to go forward through the understanding that God is the only Mind and the real man His reflection. Steady progress may be realized by the student who, through the faithful application of what he has learned, sees an unlovely trait such as impatience replaced by patience or intolerance giving way to love, while a greater joy in doing his schoolwork and homework assures him he is making true progress.

Never more than now was it so important to be on guard against any false suggestion that would lead thought into confusion.
