With deep gratitude for the many blessings we have received through the study of Christian Science, I give this testimony, hoping it may help someone.

Ten years ago, when I was in despair, suffering both mentally and physically, and longing for something to lift me out of this despondency. Christian Science was brought to my notice through a friend who gave me a lecture to read, saying. "Read that and be well." I very indignantly said. "This suffering is not imaginary." He explained very kindly that he knew that, but that I could be well anyway.

I did read the lecture that evening. For the first time I realized that God is Love, and the creator of everything, and that He is good; that sickness, not being good, has no creator, therefore it does not exist, except in mortal mind or in wrong thinking. Through the night I held to these facts. In the morning the pain and soreness in my side were gone and have never returned. Both my husband's and my own joy and gratitude were very great.

Someone brought us the textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I exclaimed, "Why, this is exactly what I've been looking for all these years," and I began at once to read aloud the chapter on Prayer. I scarcely laid the book down until I had finished it knowing more each day it was the religion we needed.

I severed my connection with the orthodox church of which I had been a member since a child, and we joined a small Christian Science Society in our town and began the study of this truth which makes men free.

Through the study of Christian Science we have been healed of many things. The greatest was the healing of grief at the sudden passing of our only son and his wife. Through this trying experience we learned better what Mrs. Eddy means where she says in "Unity of Good" (p. 55), "Jesus accepted the one fact whereby alone the rule of Life can be demonstrated,—namely, that there is no death."

We are so grateful for all the loving help given us at this time. We felt indeed that there was one fold and one shepherd.

One fall, just before the peach harvest, my husband was brought back from what seemed to be death to his natural activity, and was able to oversee the harvesting. A Christian Science practitioner lovingly helped us in this trial. How quickly doubt and fear disappear before Truth! "For the word of God is quick, and powerful," as we read in Hebrews.

Some time ago while preparing for a journey, I was stricken with a severe liver attack. We called a practitioner and through her gracious help I was able the following day to make the trip, a distance of more than four hundred miles by automobile.

Lumbago, colds, constipation, and blood poisoning are some of the ills that have been overcome. Each day I give thanks, not only for the many proofs we have had of the healing power of Christian Science but above all else for the peace and joy and security this understanding brings to troubled hearts. Through Christian Science one is able to rise above the world chaos to the quiet and harmony of peace in God's kingdom, the only kingdom, and know that He alone has power, and that good only can be victor.

I am grateful for membership in The 'Mother Church and in our own little society, for the privilege of class instruction, for our periodicals, for our helpful and loving practitioners, the lecturers, and all other means put forth for our better understanding of the allness of God and of man in His image and likeness.—(Mrs.) Bertha Roberts, Paonia, Colorado.

I am glad to be able to verify my wife's testimony and wish to say we have received these blessings and many more through the study of Christian Science.
